“Hang onto the world as it spins around

Just don’t let the spin get you down

Things are moving fast

Hold on tight and you will last

Keep your self-respect, your manly pride

Get yourself in gear, keep your stride

Never mind your fears

Brighter days will soon be here

Take it from me someday, we’ll all be free.”

I love this song for so many reasons.  First of all, Donny Hathaway was such a musical genius.  He was a trailblazer of his time and he always shared a message of love and hope when people needed it the most.  Secondly, I love the universally uplifting message this song portrays.  Whether it’s a race of people that needs encouragement through an oppressive time, or one person individually who needs that ray of hope and inspiration to make it through their rough times, this song gives just that.

Stay encouraged through our history of greatness.
