I can’t wait to read our latest pick, “The Shack” by William P. Young.  I have heard rave reviews about it and I’m so intrigued!

Not only does this book look like a thrilling read with a great story line, it seems to give powerful lessons about God and Spirituality.  I think this is an excellent book to read right now, with all of the pain and suffering going on in the world.

Check out the following description to find out why:

“Mackenzie Allen Phillips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness.  Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend.

Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare.  What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.

In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The Shack wrestles with the timeless question, “Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?” The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him.  You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!”

Here are some compelling reviews:

“This story reads like a prayer – like the best kind of prayer, filled with the sweat and wonder and transparency and surprise.  If you read one work of fiction this year, let this be it.”  – Mike Morrell, Zoecarnate.com

“An exceptional piece of writing that ushers you directly into the heart and nature of God in the midst of agonizing human suffering.”  – David Gregory, author of “Dinner With a Perfect Stranger”

In our journey of creating better lives, let’s get in touch with the “heart and nature of God.”  After all, He is the most important element.

We start reading, “The Shack” the weekend of April 9th and our first discussion will be on April 23rd.  If you would like to join us go to: The Butterfly Book Club to sign up and get all of the details.
